Newsletter – Quilting News September 2012

Welcome to my Quilting News September Hi there – Melbourne did get some warmer weather for a few days, at long last, then we’ve had very strong winds which have caused all sorts of havoc on the roads.  Today is sunny again which is great!  Charli’s quilt As mentioned in the previous edition I was going to update you on the progress of my granddaughter’s quilt.  I had such fun making it but it’s ended up being much bigger than a single bed quilt, more like a double size!  The bonus is that it now covers all those ‘things’ stored under her bed…so her mum’s really pleased! Quilt design phase I already had a lot of fat quarters of Annela Hoey’s Sherbet Pips, and seeing Charli liked them I decided to use those.  I did need to buy  more material though which wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.  What pattern to use?  For some reason I decided that the flying geese design would be great as a centre panel, so it was onto my trusty software package to work out the design, layout and colours.  Here are some of the first examples I played around with.  Would have love to make the one on the right but I just couldn’t find any of the red material.
